Who we are:
We are the Bower Dellums Institute for Sustainable Policy Studies and Action. We are a group of planners and designers passionate about transforming urban spaces and empowering underrepresented communities in long-term ways. Since 1969, we have worked on projects involving: local economic development, cultural expression, watershed restoration, fire hazard reduction planning, homelessness prevention, design in parks, environmental education, solar energy equipment, and the development of a Green Building curriculum through Merritt College.
We believe the best way to uplift the community is by providing safe, nurturing outdoor spaces. We will empower the community to uplift itself!
We are now partners on the $4.1 million project to build the San Leandro creek Greenway Trail From Deep East Oakland to Martin Luther King Jr Shoreline.
